Enough with the unnecessary apostrophes

I was in Smyths toy shop recently. Along one of the aisles was a note for staff about the evacuation plan in case of a fire.
“Employee’s must walk not run…” – drop the apostrophe and consider adding a comma after “walk.” And don’t capitalise “Point.”

This weekend my wife and I are attending an ante natal class at the Springfield Hotel in Leixlip. Off to the website to get directions.
Nice looking site.
I clicked on ‘Maps’ at the bottom of the page. Nothing happened. The url in the status bar showed a ‘#’ so I waited for a popup window. Nothing [...]

I was walking through Blanchardstown Centre at the weekend. There was a glaring typo on one of the parking signs. Opperation should drop the second ‘p’. Doesn’t anyone check these signs before they are printed? After they are printed? Before they are sent out?  I hope the same typos aren’t at Connolly Hospital (groan).

A friend asked me to look at the website for Cronin moving company because he couldn’t find the phone number. He wasn’t mistaken, it’s not on the site! Nor is the company address! The phone book was used to get the number.

Recently a new web design company asked those on the boards.ie Webmaster forum to review their website. It was a bloodbath.
The thread started off without a link to the site. As soon as that was rectified the massacre started. The site is so bad that some thought it was a joke.

I haven’t seen any typos since my last post but did hear George Bush’s grammer gaff on The Daily Show last week (each show is broadcast the following night on More4).
They showed the clip where President Bush stated, in front of a class of New York school kids, that “Childrens do learn.”
